We are sad to share the news that Jerry Waxman, our dear friend, passed away today, in Winter Park, Florida, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Jerry was a powerhouse of a man, full of exuberance for life, a zeal for activism, a tireless worker for causes he deeply believed in. His was an eclectic life, from textile to theater, from music to politics; his was a mind teeming with anecdotes and ideas that made his company special and immensely pleasurable. Even if you met him for just a few minutes, you knew him for life.
Central Florida will not be the same without him, and its streets, where Jerry walked in support of so many good causes, will feel his absence. But a lot of us, inspired by him and how he served his community, would carry on his work, and walk miles in his shoes for the greater good of our communities, for that is what Jerry would want us to do.
According to Paul Waxman, Jerry’s son there will be no funeral. There will be an open house on Sunday December 21.
