A man was arrested by Tampa Police in an attempted bank robbery.
Earlier this month, Tampa Police officers responded to the Truist Bank at 16102 Bruce B. Downs Blvd in reference to an attempted bank robbery. The suspect entered the bank and implied that he had a weapon before fleeing the scene on foot.
Aaron James Spencer was arrested and charged for the attempted bank robbery in April.
Investigators were able to gather evidence, including fingerprints, and quickly develop leads, pointing them to a recent address connected to the suspect.
Spencer was located and arrested without incident.
“Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our detectives and the support of our federal partners at the FBI, this case was quickly resolved and the suspect taken into custody,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “if you commit a crime in our city, we will hold you accountable.”
Spencer is charged with Robbery. This is an active Central Florida investigation, according to local law enforcement.
