Saying he delivers laws that make life better, Democrat Alan Grayson is running for the Florida State Senate in an upcoming Central Florida special election.
Former Congressman Alan Grayson says he has a special talent for writing and passing legislation – a talent he wants to put to work in Tallahassee to get results. In Congress, Grayson wrote more bills and passed more amendments into law than any other member of the U.S. House.
As he runs to be the new State Senator for District 15, Alan Grayson is campaigning on guaranteeing a living wage for everyone who works full time, increasing affordable housing with lower-cost mortgages and lower property taxes/insurance, lowering tolls and taxes on driving, expanding Medicaid and bringing back free health clinics, expanding clean water and sewer systems throughout Orange County, and offering free state college education.
Alan Grayson has also proven to be an outspoken progressive Democrat who is not afraid to take on Republicans, or other Democrats, politically while still delivering results for constituents.
The Democratic candidate is citing previous laws he passed which he says improved lives, including:
- funded Orlando’s first Veterans hospital
- expanded Veteran’s benefits
- $10 million more for Celebration hospital
- $50 million more for Osceola County schools
- 50% more bilingual housing counseling
- no-down-payment, zero-percent mortgage
- funded SunRail through Osceola County
- funded free business courses, cut local foreclosures in half
This special election is to fill the late Senator Geraldine Thompson’s Florida State Senate seat, which consists of parts of Orange County. There will be a Democratic primary in this special election for this Central Florida State Senate seat on June 24th. In addition to Alan Grayson, Democrats running in the District 15 race include Coretta Anthony-Smith, Randolph Bracy and LaVon Bracy Davis, who all qualified. The winner will face Willie Montague, who was the only Republican to qualify, on September 2nd for the special election.
