James Martin, the man who is suspected of shooting and stabbing his wife, professional boxer Christy Martin, remains at large, Orange County investigators said on Monday.
Deputies responded to the Apopka home of Christy and James Martin around 2:08 pm, on Thursday (November 25) after receiving a report from a family friend that the home may have been burglarized. The friend had gone to the home at the request of Mrs. Martin to pick up some of her personal belongings. Sheriff’s deputies entered the home to insure no one was inside. The burglary was confirmed, but cops would not say whether or not James Martin was involved and the investigation continues into the burglary.
Meanwhile, Christie Martin, 42, had told detectives that her husband had stabbed her after they got into a domestic dispute, on November 23, around 6:45 pm. Her husband had confronted her inside their home with a knife and handgun and they began to fight. She was able to get out of the house and had flagged down a motorist who had taken her to Florida Hospital where doctors discovered that Mrs. Martin had also been shot.
Mrs. Martin, who remains hospitalized is expected to recover from her injuries.
The search is on for James Martin, who is described as a white male, 66-years-old, 5’ 10”, 165 pounds, bald, and brown eyes.
The investigation is ongoing.
