Universal Orlando is reporting record increases in second quarter profits, despite the fall off in attendance.
The Orlando theme park announced that profits at the end of June 2009, increased by an estimated 29 percent when compared to the same period a year ago. This increase in profits was realized notwithstanding a fall off in attendance of about 14 percent.
Senior officials said that the increase in profits had come about as significant cost cutting measures, including marketing expenses, had been implemented.
Top executives also said that those who visited the theme park spent more and that per- capita spending had increased by 3 percent during the quarter.
Universal’s management said that theme park goers could have “a great guest experience”, as they continued to manage the operation efficiently.
