Jason Richardson’s 22 points lead the short handed Orlando Magic to a blow out 119-89 win over the Detroit Pistons Monday night.
With All-Star Center Dwight Howard sidelined due to back spasms, it was the perfect time for Ryan Anderson to make his return and help get a solid team win.
“It took me a minute to get going,” Anderson said jokingly. “It was great to get back out there and I didn’t feel too limited.”
Anderson finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds in his first game, back after suffering a sprained ankle that kept him sidelined the previous three games.
The Magic were without back up point guard Chris Duhon due to a one game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
Ishmael Smith got a chance to show his talents taking the spot of Duhon. Smtih scored 6 points and dished out 7 assists in 18 minutes of play.
“I loved the way Ish played,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said post game. “He definitely showed me something special.”
Tayshaun Prince led the Detroit Pistons with 21 points to go along with 7 rebounds.
The Magic used a 35-21 third quarter to build it’s large lead.
“It’s very embarrassing,” Detroit coach Lawrence Frank said. “We have to make a decision as a team and go forward.”
Orlando is now (22-4) win scoring more then 100 points.
The Magic (34-23) will travel to Washington and play the Wizards Tuesday night, tip off set for 7pm.
