The Orlando Neighborhood Watch of the Year 2024 was recently announced.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer joined District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith and Neighborhood Watch leaders of the Ventura Country Club to recognize the 2024 Neighborhood Watch of the Year with an official sign unveiling.
The Ventura Country Club worked hard to revitalize its Neighborhood Watch program, driven by the leadership and dedication of its community members, according to the Orlando Police Department. In 2024, Ventura Country Club hosted four Neighborhood Watch meetings, providing residents with valuable opportunities to connect, collaborate, and stay informed about safety strategies.
More than just a safety initiative, the Ventura Country Club Neighborhood Watch Group has fostered a true sense of community, encouraging residents to take an active role in keeping their neighborhood safe. OPD said their dedication to crime prevention helped foster a welcoming and secure environment for all, serving as an inspiring example for other communities.
A key factor in their success has been their strong partnership with OPD, including their District Liaison Officer and Neighborhood Watch Specialist, ensuring continued support and collaboration. The dedication of Ventura Country Club residents to crime prevention and neighborhood unity has made a lasting impact, reinforcing the power of community driven safety initiatives.
These groups serve as eyes and ears for their fellow neighbors while also helping the Orlando Police Department identify and investigate suspicious activity.
City of Orlando residents can start a Neighborhood Watch Group for their street, block, neighborhood, apartment complex or condominium community by contacting the Orlando Police Department.
