On Monday, concerned parents gathered at the Save Our Schools rally in Titusville, questioning how the school board was spending its money, aiming to “put the public back in education” and stay informed on all of the school board’s decisions.
Rev. Glenn Dames, the pastor at the church where the rally was held, and a schools advocate, said they want officials to use additional dollars from the state legislator to keep the schools open.
It’s never too late to do the right thing,” he told Florida Today.
Much of the new $22.6 million the school board is expecting from the state comes with strings attached, school district leaders have said. They believe the rest may go to new charter schools opening or a new requirement to pay for dual enrollment tuition.
