Orlando Science Center Set Guinness World Records Title

The Orlando Science Center, along with 262 participants, set the Guinness World Records title for the most people flying paper rockets simultaneously.

That’s right, the Orlando Science Center has become officially amazing.

Orlando Science Center Guinness World RecordsThe Orlando Science Center officially achieved a Guinness World Records title on November 16th with a massive launch of paper rockets in the Dr. Phillips CineDome. An official judge from Guinness World Records was onsite to verify the attempt and confirm that the Science Center achieved a Guinness World Records title for the most people flying paper rockets simultaneously.

The Science Center received an official certificate documenting their world record title, which will also be noted in the 2025 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

For the purposes of the record, a paper rocket was defined as a toy made entirely of paper that fits onto a straw, and when the straw is blown through, the rocket flies into the air.

Each participant was equipped with one paper rocket. The judge allowed three attempts for a successful flight. Participants had to fly their paper rockets within 15 seconds of the launch signal. A flight was considered successful when, because of the air pushing the rocket, the paper rocket flew upwards or horizontally. Only successful flights were counted.

Central Florida visitors and members to the Science Center participated in the attempt, reaching the record-setting number of 262 people.

This Guinness World Records title attempt was made in conjunction with the Science of Guinness World Records exhibition, currently on display at Orlando Science Center until January 6, 2025. Presented locally by Nemours Children’s Health, this exhibit celebrates the world’s most extraordinary record holders and what it took to cement their names in history books. Learn about the physical demands humans endure to achieve the seemingly impossible while participating in multiple activities and challenges.

The Science Center said it could not have done it without the help of the amazing local community coming together to reach the world record goal.
