Property Appraiser Rick Singh to debut Domestic Partnership Brochure

Art2Knowing your rights in a domestic partnership is critical when sharing property or a homestead exemption in Orange County. In an effort to educate the public on this issue, Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh and the OCPA office have published the brochure “Your Home. Your Partner. Know the Facts.”

The brochure will debut as part of “Art in Equality,” a First Thursdays celebration to be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 7th, at the Orlando Museum of Art.

“We are very pleased to join with the Orlando Museum of Art for ‘Art in Equality’” said Singh. “Using art as a backdrop to the conversation about domestic partnership and property rights brings a sensitivity to the issue. It’s a conversation we should be having,” said Singh.

“We are truly honored to be partnering with the Property Appraiser and helping share his message regarding domestic partner rights through what we feel is a thought compromise of Art, Information and Entertainment,” said Randy Ross, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for the Orlando Museum of Art and Event Co-chair.  “We’re inviting all walks of life to come home to the Museum.”

A panel discussion will be held at 7 p.m. to answer questions about joint homestead, Joint Tenancy with Rights of Survivorship and Tenancy in Common.

“Art in Equality” will showcase works with an equality theme from artists who represent diverse groups. The evening will also include a variety of entertainment, including comedian Glozell Green, DJ Brianna Lee and the Orlando Gay Chorus.
