‘Oohs and Aahs’ as Thousands Celebrate Fourth of July at Lake Eola

Thousands of residents and visitors flocked to Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando to take in the city’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show Tuesday evening.

Now into its 35th years, city officials anticipated there would be 150,000 people in attendance, but according to news reports the crowd was far less. But that didn’t stop the many attendees from enjoying the spectacular fireworks, food and live entertainment.

Much to the delight of the crowd, the first rockets went up into the air around 9:15 p.m, to the Oohs and Aahs of spectators.

But hundreds gathered around Lake Eola well before the fireworks display began in an effort to secure prime viewing spots, picnic and enjoy the family fun.

The festivities included live music and entertainment on two stages throughout the evening.

At the Amphitheater Stage there were 98.9 WMMO Local Music Spotlight, Bailey Callahan and the Orlando Concert Band that treated attendees to several delightful medleys and patriotic songs, including America The Beautiful and God Bless America.

On the K92.3 Stage, the Hayfire Band – Central Florida’s Hottest Country band – performed several numbers for nearly three hours.

Just before the highlight of the evening, spectators were treated to a special patriotic Lake Eola Fountain water, light and sound show. Then came the spectacular 15-minute fireworks display which saw various shades of red, white, blue and more light up the sky downtown Orlando.
