10th Annual IBSA World Bench Press & Powerlifting Championship in Orlando

Orlando is proud to host the 10th Annual IBSA World Bench Press and Powerlifting Championships July 1-7 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel located at Orlando International Airport presented by the Central Florida Sports Commission is partnership with the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) and the International Blind Sports Association.

More than 100 of the World’s most powerful blind and visually impaired athletes from each continent and 20 countries, along with coaches, support staff, family members, and guests will attend this year’s World Championships.

“We are delighted to welcome these amazing athletes to Central Florida” said John Bisignano, president of the Central Florida Sports Commission. “We look forward to working with USABA and IBSA to ensure the success of this prestigious event in our community.”

“Orlando is an international destination for sports and entertainment and we are honored to host the annual IBSA World Bench Press and Powerlifting Championship this year,” said District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz.

The championship will be directed by officials from the USABA and the IBSA. The USABA is recognized by the US Olympic Committee and the IBSA is the official international governing body for all blind sports and blind powerlifting.

“Meeting and getting to know these athletes is the most special experience,” said Peter Thorne, vice chairman for ISBA Powerlifting. “They provide us the most memorable sports encounters.”
