The 23-year-old Nigerian man that attempted to blow up a Northwest Airline flight on Christmas Day was indicted today by a federal grand jury in Detroit.
Detnews.com: A six-count indictment handed down Wednesday charges Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder and other charges. No terrorism charge has been filed to date.
Abdulmutallab is to be arraigned at 2 p.m. Friday in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Randon. A detention hearing is also scheduled for Abdulmutallab at that time, but it’s not clear the detention hearing will go ahead.
“The charges … could imprison him for life,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement. “This investigation is fast-paced, global, and ongoing, and it has already yielded valuable intelligence that we will follow wherever it leads.
