Orlando Police Officer Arrest Imminent

An Orlando Police Officer, charged with false imprisonment and battery, will turn himself in today.

On December 14th, the police officer was working at an off duty assignment at the Firestone Club.  Subsequently, OPD Criminal Investigations Division received a complaint on December 17th in relation to criminal misconduct regarding the actions of the police officer.

On December 29th an Investigative Felony Filing Package was forwarded to the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office. Upon reviewing the information, the State Attorney’s Office obtained a court order for the officer’s arrest.

The Officer was relieved of duty on December 17th and will remain in that status pending the conclusion of the Criminal Proceedings.  Once the criminal proceedings are concluded an Internal Investigation will proceed.

Eyewitness News is reporting that an Orlando Officer Brandon Lavertie was working off-duty, when a woman accused him of battery and false imprisonment outside a downtown concert club.

OPD is yet to confirm the name of the officer.
