FPHA Hosts Annual Educational Conference

The Florida Public Health Association (FPHA) will host their 2013 Annual Educational Conference, Public Health Professionals: The Link to a Healthy Florida from August 28th through August 30th at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center, 1500 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32809. This conference provides the opportunity to network and learn about important up to date public health information and innovative topics to ensure public health in Florida. Attendees gain knowledge they can implement in the community they work and live in, making strides in protecting the public’s health.

“The conference is open to all public health professionals and it is our hope that many of our community public health partners in this area will come and participate. It is a great opportunity to get the latest information. The networking among everyone is most valuable,” said Lori Jordhal, FPHA President.

The conference brings together state and local experts to share their expertise. General Sessions include topics such as achieving health equity through innovation strategies, public health risk and crisis communication, epidemiology of metabolic syndrome, and the Affordable Care Act. The educational tracks focus on a variety of areas such as state level public health efforts to achieve the Healthiest Weight in Florida Initiative, tobacco control, the future of public health, emerging diseases among others.

Health workers, physicians, environmental health specialists, health educators, social workers, academicians, policymakers, interested citizens and students, along with the general public are invited to attend the conference. Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Education (CE) credits will be offered. To register, please visit www.fpha.org

Professionals as well as the general public interested in public health are invited to become members of the Florida Public Health Association. As an FPHA member, you are provided the opportunity to network, and be part of a strong advocacy group. To become a member, visit www.fpha.org.
