A former Central Florida deputy was recently arrested after a road rage incident where the suspect in a vehicle threw a bottle at the victim, striking her in the head.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a road rage incident involving a former deputy who is now employed by Hillsborough County Public Schools.
According to HCSO, earlier this month at 12:45pm, a victim and her two teenage children were traveling southbound on Bell Shoals Road when they approached a red light at the intersection at Fishhawk Boulevard outside of Tampa. As the light turned green, the vehicle in front of them failed to move, prompting the victim to honk her horn to alert the driver.
Both vehicles continued onto Fishhawk Boulevard, when the passenger of the suspect’s vehicle began yelling at the victim.
According to law enforcement, at a red light at the intersection of Fishhawk Boulevard and Mosaic Drive, the passenger from the suspect vehicle threw a bottle at the victim, striking her in the head. The victim sustained a raised contusion and an abrasion from the impact.
Through investigative means, the suspect was identified as 47-year-old Brandon Scott Parker, a former deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and current employee of Hillsborough County Public Schools. Parker was employed by HCSO from 2003 to 2016.
Parker was arrested and charged with Throwing a Deadly Missile at or Into an Occupied Conveyance.
“This type of violent behavior is absolutely unacceptable, especially from someone who once wore a badge,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “There is no excuse for escalating a traffic dispute into an act that caused injury to an innocent driver. No one is above the law, and we will hold individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their past or current affiliations.”
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
