An annual $50 million Florida health care innovation revolving loan program was announced.
The Florida Department of Health launched the Florida Health Care Innovation Loan Program, saying it marks a significant step in Florida’s efforts to drive innovation in the state’s health care system. The Health Care Innovation Program was established to identify solutions to improve the delivery and quality of health care in the state, and the annual $50 million loan program will fund ideas for new and innovative healthcare solutions.
The portal offers:
- Secure online application submission
- Detailed information on loan eligibility and requirements
- Application tracking and status updates
- Resources and support for applicants
Applicants for the loan program include certain entities licensed, registered, or certified by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, including hospitals, residential treatment facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Organizations providing educational or clinical training that partner with an eligible facility are included.
The program includes the Health Care Innovation Council, whose chair is the Lieutenant Governor and comprises voting and nonvoting members who bring expertise from various fields, including health care, technology, finance, and patient advocacy.

Governor Jay Collins. “As the Council Chair and newest member, I am honored to work with the Council to support health care innovation implementing solutions that address the evolving needs of our state’s health care system.”
“This loan program reflects Florida’s commitment to patient-centered innovation and medical choice,” said State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo. “We are investing in the lives of Floridians by supporting solutions that improve care delivery and outcomes.”
The council was established to promote innovative technologies, workforce pathways, and service delivery models that increase efficiency in the delivery of health care in Florida. The goal is to reduce strain on the health care workforce, increase access to health care, improve patient outcomes, limit unnecessary emergency department visits, and lower costs for patients and the state without sacrificing quality of care.
A new Health Care Innovation website will serve as a comprehensive resource for stakeholders, including health care providers, entrepreneurs, technology developers, and the public. The Department’s loan portal also opened, providing a streamlined process for eligible entities to apply for funding to support innovative health care projects.
