One year out from the 2024 election, the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement targeting Republicans, teasing the top issues for Democrats, and promising to organize for elections up and down the ballot:
“One year from today, voters will head to the polls to reject extremism and restore rights across our state. This is the first step to taking back Florida,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “What happens in Florida in 2024 will be felt for generations. Next year, we have the chance to restore reproductive rights, take back key house seats to chip away at the supermajority and push Rick Scott into retirement by electing a new U.S. Senator for Florida.
“At our 2023 State Convention last weekend, I asked each of us to imagine the Florida that is possible. A Florida where people can actually afford to live, where women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community can feel safe walking down the street, a Florida that welcomes immigrants, denounces Nazis, protects Social Security and Medicare and preserves our precious environment. This is the Florida that is possible if we start working together today.
“Over the next year, Florida Democrats will launch the most important organizing effort since the Obama campaign to ensure we secure victories in critical races up and down the ballot from school board elections to the U.S. Senate, and reelect the Biden-Harris administration to finish the job.”
