Facebook Fan Helps Cops Nab Suspect in Elderly Woman’s Wallet Theft

An anonymous tip received from a Polk County Sheriff’s Office Facebook fan let to the apprehension of a man who stole a 75-year-old woman’s wallet from a laundromat in Winter Haven.

Deputies charged 32-year-old Hector Estrada of Lake Dextor Shores Drive in Winter Haven, via affidavit for one count of petit theft, after he admitted to stealing the woman’s wallet.

 

The elderly victim was at the Busy Bubbles laundromat at 3397 Cypress Gardens Road last Wednesday, just before 1:30 pm, when she accidentally left her wallet on top of one of the change machines and walked away to wash her clothes.  On the video, the suspect, later identified as Estrada could be seen walking over to the machine and taking the victim’s wallet off of it, then leaving the laundromat.

Deputies received the anonymous tip from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Facebook fan, after she saw the Crime Stoppers information and video surveillance photo posted on that page.

Estrada is due to appear in court at a later date for this crime.
