Executive Secretary, Ivette Garcia, Named 2013 School-Related Employee of the Year

Ivette Garcia was recently named the 2013 School-Related Employee of the Year for Seminole County Public Schools. Mrs. Garcia has worked in the district for 17 years, the past 7 as an Executive Secretary within the Department of Exceptional Student Support Services. Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Walt Griffin, “opened the envelope” and made the surprise announcement during Thursday’s program which also recognized 69 employees selected by their schools/sites.

Ida Mazar, Executive Director for Exceptional Student Support Services, describes Mrs. Garcia as an employee who is always willing and able to accept the challenges that are associated with her expansive job responsibilities. In addition to addressing legal issues, countless department/board policies, and/or the complexities of bookkeeping procedures associated with local, state and federal funding, Mrs. Garcia freely gives of her time to mentor students by supporting and encouraging them both academically and personally.

The other two finalists also honored were Susanne Force, Specialist I – Employee and Governmental Relations at the Educational Support Center, and Summer Sala, ASD Paraprofessional at Jackson Heights Middle School.
