NACA Endorses Corrine Brown for Congress in Orlando Race

The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America is endorsing Corrine Brown for Congress, representing Orange County in Florida’s 10th Congressional District. It is a crowded Democratic primary election. NACA is the largest HUD-approved nonprofit, community advocacy and homeownership organization in the United States.

NACA said the group is encouraging their more than 20,000 members living in the Orlando district and other community residents to vote for Brown.

“I have worked with Corrine for more than ten years,” said Bruce Marks, NACA’s CEO and Founder. “She has stood out from other members of Congress as someone who truly represents her district. She is visible and hands-on. Wherever she goes, people come up to her and thank her for representing them. She makes it personal and always follows through.”

The group said Brown was the best choice because of the need to address the current housing crisis of skyrocketing rents and corporate investors stealing the dream of local homeownership.

“Corrine Brown will bring to Congress an important perspective and advocacy for those without a voice,” Marks added. “She has always stood for and stood by those who need representation and has a proven track record of fighting and closing the racial wealth disparity gap. The residents of Orange County need Corrine, who has effectively represented Orlando and has the stature and experience to be effective on day one. NACA proudly stands with Corrine Brown today and she has our strong endorsement.”

The group added that Brown has been a strong advocate for low- to moderate-income people and communities during her many years in Congress. Because of that, they believe she was the most effective member of Congress in addressing the mortgage crisis, and she traveled with NACA nationwide advocating for homeowners at risk of foreclosure, particularly people of color.

Brown is in a crowded Democratic primary for the Orlando congressional seat. There are a lot of Democrats trying to replace Rep. Val Demings in Congress in addition to Brown, including: Natalie Jackson, former Rep. Alan Grayson, Maxwell Alejandro Frost, Randolph Bracy, Terrance Gray, Teresa Tachon, Khalid Muneer, Jack Achenbach, and Jeffrey Boone.
