Thirty-six children will be adopted during ceremonies in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties Friday, Nov. 21, as part of National Adoption Day celebrations taking place across the country. About 4,500 children and their families will participate nationwide.
Community Based Care of Central Florida, the lead organization overseeing foster care and adoption services locally, aims to raise awareness of the number of kids in foster care needing permanent, loving homes. In the tri-county area, more than 90 children available for adoption – among thousands nationally.
Children being adopted Nov. 21 range in age from toddlers to teens (the national average age of a youth awaiting adoption is 8 years old). They will be officially united with their new families as a judge finalizes their adoptions. Afterward, families will celebrate with a party. In Orange County, Orlando hotelier and philanthropist Harris Rosen will be honored for his advocacy for children in foster care.
As Community Based Care celebrates its 10th Anniversary, the organization is pleased to share that it has helped create more than 1,000 “forever families” since its inception.
