Want to get a close up view of the new SunRail passenger cabs? Here’s your chance.
On Saturday, September 21, the public is invited to tour the new SunRail cab cars in downtown Winter Park.
The event is a partnership with Radio Disney and is designed to spread the world about train safety. The Radio Disney event, featuring Radio Disney stars Elle Winter and Jack Skuller starts at 4:00 p.m. and lasts until 8:00 pm.
Public access to the SunRail passenger cars is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cars will be parked on the railroad tracks adjacent to Winter Park’s Central Park.
A brief ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., with remarks by FDOT District 5 Secretary Noranne Downs, Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission Chairman Frank Attkisson and Winter Park Mayor Ken Bradley. The ceremony will be followed by an official ribbon-cutting in front of the SunRail vehicle.
SunRail is a 61.5-mile long commuter rail project. The first 32-mile phase of operations, which includes 12 stations, is scheduled to begin operations by Spring 2014.
