Well-Heeled Country Clubs Feed the Hungry

St. Andrews Country Club, Boca Grove Golf and Tennis Club and Addison Reserve Country Club joined together to aid Congregation B’nai Israel of Boca Raton and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in their 25th consecutive Feed the Needy Program that provides Thanksgiving dinner to over 2,500 area residents on November 24. The partnership abruptly found themselves without their annual donation from Mario’s, a Bova Restaurant, as a result of the Scott Rothstein investigation.

Craig Martin, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of St. Andrews Country Club, stated, “I am humbled by the generosity of the St. Andrews Country Club Board of Governors and my fellow Club Managers Association members who jumped in and offered assistance with such short notice. We are all pleased to be in a position to help.” Martin reached out to local Boca Raton area country club General Managers and within two days had received commitments to make up for the missing donation.

“We are so thankful for the quick response from Chuck Lehner, Chief Operating Officer/General Manager of Boca Grove Golf and Tennis Club, and Michael McCarthy, CEO and General Manager of Addison Reserve Country Club, and of course Craig Martin, to replace so much food on such short notice,” said Speier, a Feed the Needy volunteer and St. Andrews Country Club member.

Between the three country clubs enough mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, rolls, and stuffing are being provided to help Congregation B’nai Israel of Boca Raton and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church once again continue their commitment to feed those who need a little help and a warm smile this year. Over 2,500 people, mostly children, from Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach, are expected to partake in this 25-year-old tradition of fellowship, love and respect. Each person will also leave with a small leftover treasure for them to eat during the rest of the week.

The Feed the Needy Thanksgiving feast will take place on November 24 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 200 NE 12 Street, Boca Raton, FL 33432.

Directions: Take Dixie Highway south and turn left after Glades Road. Follow the road around to the left of the Church. For additional information, please call CBI Coordinators Vicky or Gary Weiner at 561-488-7118 and 561-391-1333 or Ernestine the Ebenezer Church Coordinator at 561-272-1357. The entire church building will be used to stage the food, dessert and beverage areas, tents will cover the parking lots with plenty of tables, chairs, lighting and a few volunteer DJ’s. The two congregations will send buses out to some neighborhoods and pick up a lot of families and children and then return them after they have their meal.
