This Uber driver was arrested, accused of battering a passenger while driving the woman to her destination last Friday, Orlando police say.
Ramy Botros, an Uber driver was arrested and charged with battery. He was booked into the Orange County Jail, but has since bonded out.
Botros picked up the passenger around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, in a silver Honda Civic passenger car. The woman told investigators that rather than drive to her destination, he drove around aimlessly while making comments about how attractive she looked.
The woman also told investigators that at some point, Botros stopped the vehicle and placed his hand inside her blouse and continued to touch her, even though she demanded he stop.
According to the report, the woman said she didn’t want to upset Botros, so she pretended as though everything was fine.
Botros, when questioned by detectives said, in his country – Egypt – if a woman dressed a certain way, “they are asking for that.”
Botros was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail.
Orlando police are warning passengers to be careful of ride-sharing companies like Uber.
Uber is not properly permitted in Orlando, although it continues to operate in the city.
