Two Central Florida Juveniles Arrested for Threats Against High School and Teacher

Two Central Florida juveniles were recently arrested in connection with serious threats made against a local Tampa high school and a teacher from the school.

Last month, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s School Threat Assessment and Response (STAR) Team received a tip that 14-year-old Le’Ondre Wesley Thompson sent text messages to a King High School teacher, making multiple threats to kill and inflict bodily harm.

Also at that time, the STAR team received another tip stating that 13-year-old Javaris Johnson sent an electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism at King High School. The threat was also sent via text to the same teacher.

Through investigative means, detectives learned that both juveniles obtained the teacher’s personal phone number from a third student who attends King High School. The threats were made following disciplinary action taken by the teacher against the third student.

Javaris Johnson was arrested and is facing one count of Written or Electronic Threat to Conduct a Mass Shooting or Act of Terrorism and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two Way Communications Device.

Le’Ondre Wesley Thompson was arrested and is facing one count of Written or Electronic Threats to Kill or to Do Bodily Harm to Another Person and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two Way Communications Device.

“This type of behavior will never be tolerated and will lead to several real consequences,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I urge parents to talk to their children about the gravity of these actions. We will continue to pursue those who threaten the well-being of our students and teachers.”

The student who provided the teacher’s phone number to the juveniles is under investigation for potential charges, according to local law enforcement.
