Orange County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a home invasion that morphed into a carjacking on Cricket Drive in Pine Hills on Wednesday.
Investigators said, a deputy on patrol was flagged down by a citizen who said that he had been the victim of a home invasion and carjacking around 10:30 a.m.
The deputy followed the suspects and saw two persons bail out of a van and fire three shots. The deputy who sought cover, did not return fire, but radioed the suspects’ description and their direction of travel.
A perimeter was set up on Rockwell Drive and a K-9 led deputies to 2066 Rockwell Drive where the suspects were hiding.
Both juvenile suspects subsequently surrendered without further incident. The names of the suspects are:
- Steven Charleston, 16 years.
- Adriel McKee, 16 years.
The investigation is continuing into this crime.
