Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi GOTV Breakfast with Florida Democrats for Early Voting Blitz

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joined the Harris-Walz campaign and the Florida Democratic Party as part of an early voting blitz, headlining a Women’s GOTV breakfast in Miami with Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried and women running for office up and down the ballot in Miami-Dade County.

The Democrats highlighted Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz’s vision for a “New Way Forward” that ensures every Floridian has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead, while Republican Donald Trump is “increasingly unstable and unfit for the presidency.”

Nancy Pelosi GOTV FloridaWith early voting underway, enthusiasm on the ground continues to ramp up for Vice President Harris, Governor Walz, and Democrats up and down the ballot.

According to the Democrats, nearly 1,467 people had signed up to canvass and phonebank across more than 372 events happening in Florida. They were ready for the state’s biggest Weekend of Action to date, with more than 2,500 canvass and phone banking shifts scheduled. Speaker Emerita Pelosi agreed the ground game was the key.

“Mobilization. We must own the ground. We must get out every single vote,” Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi said at the GOTV Florida event.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Coral Gables in South Florida with fellow Democrats to get out the vote on what was the second day of early voting for most of Florida. She thanked those gathered for getting the abortion rights amendment on the ballot and urged volunteers to push voters to the polls and not to “take anything for granted.” She predicted Democrats would win the House and said of Florida, “Miami-Dade gives us hope.”

“The message has to be bold and progressive but it doesn’t have to be menacing,” she said. “It has to be unified. We have a responsibility to unify this country, bigger than party politics — just patriotism at its best — which is a sharp contrast to the other side.”

She also praised Vice President Kamala Harris, saying women in politics were frequently underestimated and called the presidency — as well as her past House speakership — a “marble ceiling” versus the “glass ceiling” that it’s been described as in the past.

Pelosi said Harris had successfully gotten the message across that: “Don’t vote for me because I’m a woman, but don’t vote against me because I’m a woman. Listen to what I have to say.”

The Florida Democratic Party also believes their message appeals to independents and puts the Sunshine State in play.

“The message is really resonating with a lot of our independents,” FDP Chair Nikki Fried said. “Whether it’s property insurance, whether it’s access to reproductive health care.”
