A social media post about someone bringing firearms to the Pulse site in Orlando was reported to OPD as survivors and advocates warn to shift protests to City Hall.
After a recent violent incident at the Pulse terrorist site, where fights over sidewalk chalk and political protests disrespect the location where innocent lives were lost, a social media post regarding someone bringing non-lethal and lethal guns was reported to the Orlando Police Department.
“Going to Orlando. Going to the area around the old Pulse Nightclub where 100+ people were shot, half died. Florida has a new state law that started in July that says no colors on crosswalks or roadways other than state official markings (crosswalks, lane separation lines, edge of road, fire hydrant, parking etc),” the Facebook post stated. “LGBTQ+ keep coloring in the crosswalk over and over, which is illegal. They keep hitting the crosswalk at the old Pulse Nightclub, using colored chalk.”
“I am bringing water and a mop. I am going to clean up the chalk. I will not be stopped by these mentally insane liberals/socialist/democrats. Ultra-maga please do the same all around Florida. – And Only for self-defense; I am bringing my non-lethal Byrna and also my lethal semiautomatic. Going to use the non-lethal 1st. Only lethal if my life is in jeopardy.”
Pulse Families and Survivors for Justice urges everyone in Orlando to shift away from the terrorist site where 49 people were murdered and make a political statement at City Hall. It has become a spectacle that is creating retraumatizing conditions according to advocates. They want the local community to keep the space sacred and they do not want any more violence at Pulse Orlando.
Groups continue to chalk rainbows around the Pulse site in opposition to Governor Ron DeSantis and the state of Florida enforcing transportation safety policies and removing street art in all forms. One group called for continuing to chalk at 3pm at Pulse.
“We have asked you and others to hold this at City Hall,” Pulse Families and Survivors for Justice posted in response. “Who is organizing this? Our own community is ignoring families and survivors. It’s disgusting.”
Advocates also reported the social media post regarding firearms because they fear the safety situation at Pulse in Orlando is deteriorating. Many are calling on the City of Orlando and Mayor Buddy Dyer to provide additional security at Pulse.
“I am not sure who is organizing this rally, but reached out to all the community members I know including Orlando 50501 to stop the rally and take it elsewhere for everyone’s safety. These community organizers repeatedly ignore the calls of survivors and PULSE family members to stop creating a spectacle in front of PULSE, which we know will make it a target for this kind of violence,” an email sent to the Orlando Police Department stated along with multiple screenshots. “Please be aware and provide additional security at PULSE. I want to make sure everyone is safe.”
Democratic State Representative and Orlando mayoral candidate Anna Eskamani has been active at the Pulse site and the Pulse Families and Survivors for Justice group has urged her to take a different approach than Buddy Dyer, another Democrat who has failed to tell the truth about Pulse and failed to properly bring a respectful memorial and closure to the victims.
“There’s such a disconnect. How does this memorialize the 49 victims? It doesn’t,” wounded survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting Jorshua Nichols Hernandez Carrion recently posted about people chalking rainbows on a nearby crosswalk in downtown Orlando. “An actual permanent memorial hasn’t been built because of corruption and the politicians backing a fraudulent and now-dissolved nonprofit. This is lunacy and further silences the actual fight of victims/survivors for accountability. Total political theater. Baited by a stunt.”
This is about much more than rainbows on a street. Remember the victims, listen to the survivors.
