Senator Rick Scott Urges Rejection of Democrats’ Obstruction of DOGE in Funding Talks

Florida Senator Rick Scott urged Republican leadership to reject what he called Democrats’ obstruction of DOGE in funding talks.

Ahead of the March 14th government funding deadline, Senator Rick Scott and Representative Andy Harris led a group of colleagues in sending a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson urging them to oppose any Democrat demands that would undermine President Donald Trump and DOGE’s efforts to reduce wasteful federal spending.

The Florida Senator said that President Trump is making good on his promise to change the broken status quo in Washington that led the nation to a $36 trillion debt crisis, and Republicans must work together to ensure the President can continue to deliver on his mandate and Make America Great Again.

“Any attempt to use government funding legislation to dilute the President’s constitutional authority to save taxpayer dollars must be rejected outright,” the letter stated. “A bloated federal bureaucracy and unsupervised, unaccountable federal spending have contributed to the existential fiscal threat our country faces, with a $36 trillion national debt growing because of perennial budget deficits. Our country cannot afford to allow Democrats to frustrate President Trump’s work to rein in government spending and bring needed and long-overdue accountability to Washington. We look forward to working with you to resist these attempts, and ensure that the President can continue to deliver on his mandate.”

Senator Rick Scott and Representative Harris were joined by Senators Marsha Blackburn, Ted Budd, Ron Johnson, Cynthia Lummis, Bernie Moreno, Mike Lee, Eric Schmitt, Tommy Tuberville, along with Representatives Andy Biggs, Sheri Biggs, Andrew Clyde, Clay Higgins, Paul Gosar, Brandon Gill, Mark Harris, Andy Ogles, Anna Paulina Luna, Barry Moore and Ralph Norman.
