Section of Orlando Urban Trail Closed for Four Months

A section of the Orlando Urban Trail will be closed for approximately four months.

According to the City of Orlando, more system upgrades are underway as they are working with OUC – The Reliable One to upgrade Lift Station 2, an important part of the city’s wastewater system. This includes replacing 70-year-old pipes and improving reliability for the entire Lake Highland/Ivanhoe area.

Orlando Urban Trail users can expect to see a section of the trail between Magnolia Avenue and Highland Avenue to be closed for approximately four months, according to the city. Use caution and follow detour signs.

Drivers in the area can expect to see work in the area during work hours Monday through Friday.

This is a multi-phase project involving the replacement of the original cast iron force mains serving Lift Stations 1, 2 and 3 with new PVC mains. Phase I involves constructing a force main, a water main, and an electric duct bank improvements from Legion Place and Garland Avenue east to Garden Plaza. Roads included are North Orange Avenue, Weber Street, Magnolia Avenue, the Urban Trail, Highland Avenue, Lake Highland Drive, North Thornton Avenue, Canton Street, North Hampton Avenue and Garden Plaza.

Part A includes Garland Avenue and Orange Avenue to Lake Highland Drive and Ferris Avenue, including the segment of the Orlando Urban Trail within this corridor.

For more information on this project, check the City of Orlando page for the Lift Station 2 upgrade. The overall project is scheduled to be completed in approximately four and a half years.
