Record 4th of July air travel is expected at Orlando International Airport as visitors celebrate in Central Florida.
Officials say it is going to be busy in the skies, terminals, and parking garages at Orlando International Airport (MCO) for the 4th of July. A direct comparison of travel numbers from 2024 shows that July 4th, 2025 travel will likely lead to another record year.
Overall, traffic is expected to increase nearly 2 percent with some 1.43 million passengers during the 9-day travel period, which starts on Sunday, June 29th, ending on Monday, July 7th. The busiest travel day is projected to be Sunday, July 6th, when an estimated 175 thousand passengers will pass through MCO.
To help beat the heat of summer travel at Florida’s busiest airport, MCO staff encourages passengers to remember the phrase “Pack, Park, Plane:” Pack as lightly as possible. Park using our reservation system for a guaranteed spot. Plane, give yourself plenty of time to get through security and to your plane.
Travelers can take advantage of Reserved Parking, which allows you to guarantee a parking space is waiting for you upon arrival. They can also use the MCO App, which allows you to check your flight status and security wait times. MCO Reserve also allows you to make a reservation for your time in the TSA security line.
As a reminder, free Cell Phone Lots should be used to avoid circling the terminal waiting for your party to arrive – and you can enjoy free Wi-Fi, restrooms and flight display updates. Check this online video for more tips from Orlando International Airport.
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority operates Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), two of Central Florida’s air travel gateways. MCO is a global connector, serving nearly 58 million annual passengers across its three terminals, A, B and C. Terminal C is connected to an Intermodal Terminal Facility that offers high-speed Brightline passenger rail service, and 100% automated screening lanes at TSA checkpoints. ORL is conveniently located just miles from downtown Orlando and provides general aviation access to the region.
