Prepare For More Road Carnage, as Central Florida Expressway Authority Raises Speed Limit

roadsignOn Thursday, the Central Florida Expressway Authority approved an increase of the speed limit to 70 mph along State Road 417 and State Road 429.

The new speed limit, which was formerly 65 mph, will take effect in January 2015.

The Authority explained their decision by pointing to a recent study by Atkins North America, which suggested that drivers were already going about the 65 mph limit.

The vote to raise the speed limit was unanimous.
