Nearly four in 10 Florida small businesses say they plan to hire new employees in the next six months, up 7 percent from last summer, according to a new poll of businesses by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council.
Only 3 percent said they foresee layoffs in the next six months, according to the survey, while 37 percent of employers say they’ll hire.
Of the roughly 60 percent who say they’re not hiring, most identified economic uncertainty as holding them back, while 30 percent say they’re still hampered by lack of sales.
The poll found 34 percent of Florida small businesses believe their business is better off today than six months ago.
