Woman Robbed at Gunpoint at Home

A woman was robbed at gunpoint in her home near DeLand Tuesday night, Volusia County deputies said.

The 24-year-old woman was startled from her sleep by three men who had broken in, pointing a gun at her.

The armed robbery happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Elsasser Street.

The woman told detectives, after the men entered the home through a rear sliding door, one of them pointed a gun at her, while another covered her head with a towel or blanket, forcing her to the floor. The intruders demanded money as they searched the house.

After ransacking the home, the men fled with two televisions sets, a cell phone and some jewelry.

The woman’s two young children slept undisturbed in their rooms throughout the incident.
