A Winter Park woman, who police say was driving under the influence, was arrested early on Saturday, after she stuck and injured a pedestrian on Orange Avenue, near Church Street.
Orlando police arrested 28-year-old April Ann Solomon, of Sweetgrass Circle in Winter Park and charged her with one count of DUI with personal injury.
Investigators said, Solomon was driving south on Orange Avenue in a Honda SUV, and turning onto Church Street, just before 3:00 am, when she struck pedestrian, Adeola Adefala.
The SUV flipped, struck a tree and also Adefala, police said.
Adefala, who sustained a gash to the head, was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Police said, Solomon appeared unsteady on her feet and it was believed she was operating a vehicle under the influence.
According to Solomon’s Arrest Affidavit, police could smell the “odor of the impurities emitted from her (Solomon’s) mouth as she spoke with slow, thick speech.”
Solomon was asked to perform a series of sobriety tests.
According the Arrest Affidavit, Solomon, on one of the tests, “stood with a sway”, on another, “stepped off the line on step 8” and “made no attempt to complete the task and stated ‘I can’t do it’,” on the final test.
Solomons was placed under arrest and transported to the DUI Center. Two tests revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.145 and 0.148.
Solomons was booked into the Orange County Jail around 5:30 am, on a $1,000 bond. She has been charged with one count of DUI with personal injury.
