Double Fatality in Single Vehicle Crash in Orange

The Florida Highway Patrol has released the names of the victims of a double fatality wreck that happened around 3:00 am, on Saturday on Fort Christmas Road in Orange County.

40-year-old Allison Owens, of Chuluota and 30-year-old James Hooper of Titusville, were in a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon heading northbound on Fort Christmas Road, north of Lake Pickett Road, when the vehicle crossed into a southbound lane.

The Hyundai rotated counter clockwise and traveled onto a grass shoulder, struck a wire fence, continued in a northwesterly direction and overturned, as it collided with two trees.

Owens was completely ejected from the car during the collision, while Hooper was partially ejected from the vehicle.  Both Owens and Hooper were pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers are still trying to determine which of the two occupants was driving.   Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.

FHP said, the crash remains under investigation.
