Flight AA 331, a Boeing 737 carrying 148 passengers skidded as it landed at the Norman Manley Airport after midnight on Wednesday, December 23rd.  There are reports that dozens have been injured, although there are no fatalities.

The plane was carrying mostly Jamaicans, returning home for the Christmas holiday. It is being reported that 7 people were seriously hurt and dozens sustained back, neck and head injuries.

The plane overshot the runway when it landed in heavy rain, ended up 10 feet from the water and some passengers say that the fuselage separated from the wing.  At the very least, American Airlines officials have said that the fuselage was damaged, although they have declined to speculate on the cause of the accident, saying that it is much too early.

American Airlines has set up a special toll free number that relatives could call for information.  It is # 1-800-245-0999.
