Orlando Predators receiver Robert “Bobby” Sippio Jr., was refused bail Saturday after he was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery and kidnapping.
Sippio, 31, and his accomplice, Santana O. Coats, 30, both of Kissimmee, were arrested on Friday and booked into the Osceola County Jail, after the pair allegedly threatened to kill 27-year-old Sergio Moore.
Moore told deputies he was picked up by Sippio and Coates whom he knew, at his home in Orlando, believing he was going to help move furniture. Instead, the pair drove him to a deserted area near Poinciana Boulevard and Oren Brown Road where they forced him out of the vehicle and battered him, Moore told deputies.
Moore also told investigators before Sippio and Coates took him back to his residence, they threatened to kill him at gunpoint.
Deputies said, Moore suffered injuries to his head, face and hand.
Investigators brought in Sippio and Coates for questioning, but both refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Sippio and Coates were arrested based on Moore’s statment and evidence obtained during the investigation, deputies said. Both were booked into the Osceola County Jail on Friday.
On Saturday, the Orlando Predators cut ties with Sippio claiming that he had not been practicing with the team on account of conduct issues, according to news reports.
Sippio joined the Predators two seasons ago and had become one of the team’s leading receivers. He had been a professional player for several Arena League teams over the past decade.
