Orlando Police Department Updates on Recent Officer-Involved Shooting

The Orlando Police Department provided an update on a recent officer-involved shooting.




OPD released body camera video of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 1st in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4620 Cason Cove Drive.

At approximately 5:47pm, OPD received 9-1-1 calls about a man with a gun at a 7-Eleven store in the 4500 block of Conroy Road. While the suspect was walking through the parking lot, one caller advised that the suspect pointed the gun at someone.

Surveillance video also captured the suspect with the gun in his hand inside a nearby dry cleaners.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the suspect in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 4620 Cason Cove Drive. Officers issued multiple commands to drop the gun in both English and Spanish to the suspect.

When the suspect failed to comply and drop the gun, he was shot. He was later pronounced deceased.

The gun in the suspect’s possession was recovered by OPD. Further investigation revealed it was a simulated firearm according to local law enforcement.




The suspect, identified as Orlin Manuel Bueso Calderon, had a criminal history including charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. He was also arrested for miscellaneous drug and traffic charges.

The officers involved in this shooting were placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

As with all officer-involved shootings, an independent review conducted by the FDLE will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office.
