15-Year-Old Arrested for Pistol-Whipping Teen at Central Florida Park

A 15-year-old was arrested for pistol-whipping another teen at a Central Florida park.

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the 15-year-old boy after he pistol-whipped the other teen at a Deltona park during an altercation.

Nyziah Quiles is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felony, following the incident at Dewey Boster Park.

The victim said he was at the park with his girlfriend around 8pm when a group of teens came up to him wanting to fight due to an incident that happened at school. One of the teens, only know to the victim as “Junie,” pulled out a gun and hit the victim on the side of the head, before engaging in a fight with him.

Deputies obtained surveillance video from the park showing the fight. During the investigation, detectives determined “Junie” was Quiles based on previous encounters with him.

Quiles was taken into custody at his home in Deltona. Detectives found the weapon – a 9mm handgun used to pistol whip the victim – hidden inside a crossbody bag and stashed in the garage of one of Quiles’ friends.

During the investigation, detectives determined Quiles was a suspect in a series of car break ins that happened, in which two firearms and a vehicle were stolen.

Detectives learned the weapon Quiles used to pistol whip the victim was reported stolen during the car break ins. Quiles faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, armed burglary, and grand theft of a firearm in those cases.

Detectives were actively investigating this case including interviewing other juveniles involved and a search warrant.
