About: Falling in love with your scene partner and their characters. This workshop will focus on scenes that don’t require you to invent but instead discover the subtle choices that your scene partner makes and then fall in love with those choices; unconditionally, flaws and all. From within these simple choices and blind love will emerge the comedy that comes with real relationships.

Bio: Will Luera joined ImprovBoston in 1997 as a member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage. Within two years he joined the TheatreSports cast and also became the director of Sitcom. In 1999, he left ImprovBoston to start his own improvisational theater company called Blue Screen, where he continued to direct Sitcom but also developed and directed Secret Society and Dropkick Bandito. In 2000, he rejoined ImprovBoston as Artistic Director, directing the Mainstage cast as well as premiere productions of Sitcom, Secret Society, Blue Screen, and Quest. He has appeared at the Chicago Improv Festival, New York Improv Festival, Greater Boston Improv Festival, and Toyota Comedy Festival and has studied improvisation with ImprovOlympic, The Second City, The Annoyance Theater, The Upright Citizens Brigade, and Keith Johnstone. In addition to his work at ImprovBoston, Will has taught improvisation classes for the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), the National Fire Prevention Association, Northeastern University, Boston College and numerous regional, college, and high school improv troupes. Will continues to direct the ImprovBoston Mainstage, but has also worked with Improv Asylum, The Tribe Theater, The Alarm Clock Theater, and Another Country Productions.

About: Have you ever wanted to take advantage of modern technology for an improv performance? Pictures say a thousand words and a soundtrack has the power to stir emotions. By using high-tech devices, digital media has the ability to make scenes more dynamic and to allow performers to focus on improving specific theatrical skills. This workshop will push your senses and creativity by using digital media as an influence for improvised scenes and games. We will have a terrifically fun time exploring such areas as instant character creation, scenes without dialogue, and improvised singing. This workshop will feature the use of digital projectors, music, and mobile apps.

Bio: Jed Rose began studying improv under the direction of Patricia Ryan while at Stanford University. He has since completed improv training under various improv directors and taught several improv classes on both coasts of the US. He has performed at New York, LA, Toronto, and Seattle improv festivals and is a co-founder of “Quiet Monkey Fight”. Jed has niche improv interests in physical comedy, theatrical styles, and using digital media for improvised storytelling.

Quiet Monkey Fight is an internationally recognized improv troupe that has performed original productions at New York (2008), Los Angeles (2008), Toronto (2007) and Seattle (2008, 2009, 2010) Improv Festivals.
