Orbitz: Orlando is Top Summer Hot Spot

Despite rising gas prices, Orlando is the top summer hot spot, thanks to affordable airfares and hotel rates, according to Orbitz Insider Index released on Monday.

Some 81 percent of consumers said they are still planning to take a summer vacation, but the majority travelers surveyed aim to keep summer vacation budgets under $1,500.

While Orlando ranks number one due to affordable airfare ($290 average – the lowest average fare out of the top 10) and hotel rates ($94 – the second lowest average daily rate for hotels in the top 10), the other 9 top locations include Las Vegas, Chicago and Boston. Cancun is the only international destination to crack the top 10 list this year.
