The Orange County School Board recently held a rule development workshop to review rezoning options for seven areas of our community. All proposed changes are scheduled to be voted on at the April 27, 2021 School Board meeting. Those rezonings include:
- Hamilton Gardens – the school board decided to move forward with the proposed targeted rezoning for August of 2021 affecting Horizon & West Orange High Schools.
- Sanctuary@Lakes of Windermere – the school board decided to move forward with the proposed targeted rezoning for August of 2021 affecting Independence & Sunset Park Elementary Schools, and Bridgewater & Horizon West Middle Schools.
- New school 30-E-SE-3 which will bring in students from Meadow Woods, Wetherbee, & Wyndham Lakes Elementary Schools when it opens in August of 2022. The school board decided to move forward with the proposed option 3.
- New school 90-K8-N-7 which will bring in students from Wolf Lake Elementary School; Apopka & Wolf Lake Middle Schools when it opens in August of 2022. The school board decided to move forward with the proposed options 1 (ES) and 3 (MS).
- New school 132-M-W-4 which will bring in students from Bridgewater, Horizon West & Sun Ridge Middle Schools when it opens in August of 2022. The school board decided to move forward with the proposed option 2.
- New schools 89-E-W-4 & 114-E-W-4 which will affect students at Castleview, Summer Lake, Water Spring, Whispering Oak, Independence & Keene’s Crossing Elementary Schools when they open in August of 2022. The school board decided to move forward with the proposed option 5.
- New school Orange Center K8, which will convert Orange Center Elementary School into a K8 school as well as affect students zoned for Memorial & Westridge Middle Schools when it opens in August of 2022. The school board decided to move forward with the proposed option 2.

The Student Enrollment Office provides options that show the population in each school while taking numerous factors into consideration including; enrollment projections, demographics, free and reduced meals, English-Language Learners (ELL), and Exceptional Student Education (ESE). The options presented to the school board came after staff from the Student Enrollment Office held community meetings with residents.
