Orange County Fire Rescue Celebrates New Recruits, Promotions & Special Recognition

Firefighter/paramedic Stephen Gregory and family host a thank you dinner at Station 77/A Shift on Friday, July 29, 2016. Gregory was electrocuted at his home on June 1. Station 76 and 77 – A shift – and neighbor Joseph Kage provided emergency care that saved his life.

Orange County Fire Rescue will celebrate the graduation of 14 new firefighters, multiple ranks of promotions and two special recognitions for outstanding performance tonight. This evening’s recognition will include a Lifesaving Award and the prestigious Meritorious Service Award.

District 3 Commissioner Pete Clarke and District 2 Commissioner Bryan Nelson will provide opening remarks.

The Meritorious Service Award will be presented to Station 63/B Shift for going above and beyond the call of duty in providing compassionate care for an elderly Alzheimer’s patient.

The Lifesaving Award will be presented to Station 76 and Station 77 – A Shift – for providing critical emergency care for a fellow firefighter who was electrocuted at his home. The firefighter, Stephen Gregory, has made a full recovery and returned to active duty with Orange County Fire Rescue. A Citizen’s Lifesaving Award will be presented to Joseph Kage, Gregory’s neighbor, who performed CPR while crews were en route.
