Orange County Fire Fighters are asking for your vote…for the artwork that will adorn their uniform shirts during the month of October and help raise awareness and money to fight cancer.
Citizens are asked to visit www.OCFFA.com and vote on the design they would like to see local fire fighters wear. Orange County Fire Fighters Association is working with Orange County Fire Rescue to raise awareness and money for our local children fighting cancer. Orange County Fire Fighters will print the shirts, and sell them to raise funds in support of Pediatric cancer.
Shirt designs were submitted by children from two local pediatric oncology units: Florida Hospital for Children & Nemours Children’s Hospital. The artists’ ages vary, with the youngest being 5 years old. Our community will decide the winning artwork by voting online.
Voting ends at midnight on September 5th, and the winners will be announced on September 7th. There will be a winner from each hospital. The overall winning picture will be placed on the shirts worn by your on-duty Orange County Fire Fighters during the month of October.
Orange County Fire Fighters will pay for these shirts, increasing the funds they raise with their own money. A version of this shirt design will then be available for the public to purchase, joining local fire fighters in an effort to support local oncology departments. All proceeds from shirt sales will be split between the two participating oncology departments.
“Fire fighters are motivated to get involved for many reasons, and often it’s because they have been personally affected by the disease,” says Lt. Scott Egan, a firefighter with Orange County Fire Department and a principal officer of the Orange County Fire Fighters Association. “We are supporting cancer awareness, and encouraging others to do the same.”
