At least 75 cab drivers are expected to attend the first-ever safety education seminar hosted by the Orlando Police Department due to take place tomorrow, April 12, beginning at 2:00 pm.
Earlier this year, a spate of attacks on taxi drivers left two dead within a 9-day period.
The Taxi Cab Safety Seminar is being conducted in conjunction with the Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Prevention Division and Vehicles for Hire.
The purpose of the Seminar is to help educate drivers about how they can operate safer throughout the community, leading to a reduction of crime on cab drivers. Several topics, including: How to minimize your risk of becoming a victim of a crime, Suspicious activities you as a driver should be aware of, and What authorities need for prosecution, will be covered at the Seminar.
The Seminar will take place at the Orlando Police Department Auditorium located at 100 S. Hughey Avenue.
