Miami Rep Stops Deportation at Last Minute

At the eleventh hour before their impending 4 A.M. deportation, Carlos Rivas stood up for his family at an immigration forum and explained his plight – and, despite all evidence pointing toward the contrary, Representative Frederica Wilson (D-Miami) was able to stop it from happening, saving the family.

The Miami Herald dramatically recounts the tale:

There wasn’t much time.

The hour was getting late at the North Miami immigration forum. The four members of Congress were hungry.

But 18-year-old Carlos Rivas had something to say.
