In a confrontation early Tuesday morning, a former security guard at a St. Petersburg motel, Anthony Graig Taylor, 25, shot the manager of the motel, and then killed himself as he was pursued by law enforcement officers.
The shooting was reported about 4:30 a.m. at the New Plaza Motel, 400 34th St. N. When officers arrived, they discovered the motel manager, identified as Jerome Horacek, shot in the upper torso, St. Petersburg police told the Tampa Bay Times.
Horacek was taken to the hospital and his injuries were not life threatening. He was released a short time later, police told the Times.
