Man Shoots Wife Dead with Gunshot to the Head

A woman who was shot in the head by her husband over the week-end, has died.

Orange County deputies said, Emily Baquerizo, 26, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head from her husband, Eloy Montanez, 21.

Investigators arrived at the couple’s home in the 500 block of Pine Island Drive just after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.  There they found Baquerizo suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Baquerizo was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, and later died.

Montanez was taken into custody at the scene.  He was initially charged with attempted first degree murder.  Those charges are expected to be upgraded to first degree murder.

Montanez is being held at the Orange County Jail, without bond.
